A hoverboard to play with the little ones in the yard is not the same as one that we will use on a regular basis to move around. Specifications such as charging time, maximum speed, autonomy or weight are very important and it is a differential factor.

And if we are going to invest in a personal means of transportation, it is best to look for an all-terrain vehicle that ensures our mobility without worries. Cross models differ from urban models due to the size of their wheels, their serrated tires, the presence of mudguards, but also due to their characteristics, which allow them to climb slopes of more than 30 °.

These hoverboards can be used by both children and adults. They support a maximum load of 120 kg.

THE BEST 8.5-INCH ALL-TERRAIN HOVERBOARDS

1. The best off-road hoverboard: the Hummer 2.0

The Hummer 2.0 is a machine with notched rims, bluetooth, built-in speakers, and fenders, all for a more advantageous price than the Kiwane. Efficient and intuitive, this model has alloy wheels and a sleek design that gives it a style that goes anywhere.

The Hummer 2.0 was launched, the older brother of the Hummer, the changes between the two models refer mainly to the more compact design of the 2.0 version and the presence of stereo speakers, an option not available for the Hummer.

Particularly ergonomic despite its imposing size, this 4x4 hoverboard has the great advantages of being very efficient and available at a very attractive price.

This product is perfect for agglomerations that have a lot of ups and downs, its 350W motors allow each one to climb hills of up to 15 °, all for a maximum speed of 20 km / h compared to the 15 km / h of the Kiwane XR, much more powerful, the manufacturer having reduced the maximum speed by braking the engine. The Hummer 2.0 also has stronger fenders.

Like all the models in this guide, the Hummer 2.0 works with an app available for Android and iOS and has a water resistance rating.

PROS:

Powerful hoverboard: 2x 350W brushless motors

Bluetooth speakers

Wide platform + handles

Good value for money

8.5-inch wide notched tires

Alloy wheels

Very durable - no silicone hoverboard shell needed

AGAINST:

LEDs too weak to aid visibility

2. The most powerful of all terrains: the Kiwane XR 800W

The Kiwane XR is the most powerful off-road hoverboard on the market with a 400W dual motor, placing just ahead of the Hummer and the Hummer 2.0, two other very good models, marketed with a better quality / price ratio but with them with an engine of 2 x 350 W.

However, power is not the only criterion to consider, especially if you want to go fast with your turning board. Proof of this is that the maximum speed of the Kiwane is 15 km / h, compared to 20 km / h for the Hummer.

This 4x4 cross hoverboard has a wide deck that makes riding comfortable. Newer than most other models, especially the design and ergonomics of the device. The lines are neat, the material is light and the colored wheels contrast with the black, omnipresent on this Kiwane XR (currently available in one color only).

The driving is flexible, a little nervous when starting due to the power, but we maintain perfect control of the speed of the machine thanks to a progressive motor and a grip for the adhesive feet, allowing us to gain precision when pivoting.

It is the LG brand that equips the lithium ion battery in this model. The Korean brand offers a 1-year warranty on the battery. Wait approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes for it to fully charge.

PROS:

Powerful hoverboard: 2 x 400W brushless motors

Wide foot platform + quality grip

Good value for money

Multitude of options

Alloy wheels

AGAINST:

Second quality carry bag

The most powerful but not the fastest

3. An off-road vehicle with a handle: the Cross City hoverboard

The Cross City is an 8.5-inch hoverboard like most models of this type. It also has more excellent notches that allow for a foolproof grip. Cheaper than the Hummer in question, mainly because its warranty is only 1 year compared to 2 years for Hummers, this original 4x4 hoverboard allows you to move with a great quality of comfort wherever you are.

This off-road hoverboard has different characteristics. First of all, its fenders allow to keep the size of the vehicle small (5 cm shorter than the Hummer), but also to be able to take it everywhere with any of them without risk of running out of battery.

In fact, this one-of-a-kind model has an integrated trolley that can be used in two ways, use the handle to lift the vehicle.

It can be carried around the way of a suitcase (the 11kg weight will not be a brake), or you can use the handle in unfolded mode, allowing you to pull your hoverboard behind, either as with a gyroroue. In fact, the handle can be unfolded, then we roll this hoverboard cross also as a rolling suitcase. This accessory is specially designed and it is the only one that has it.

As for features, nothing to complain about this crossover model. The Samsunf 4.4 Ah lithium battery allows you to drive about 12 km in a row without any problems (depending on the weight of the user, as always with electric vehicles). The power level is not a reason for complaint either, since this model incorporates two 350W motors each allowing it to circulate in the city but also in the forest for example or in the sand.

PROS:

Easy to use

Powerful and autonomous

Good value for money

Clean design

Stereo speakers

Integrated trolley

1 year warranty

CONS:

Second quality foot grip

4. Cheap hoverboard cross: the Evercross

8.5-inch off-road hoverboard with an ultra-innovative design and very complete features, the Evercross is characterized by its very good off-road handling and the presence of a handle that allows it to be carried with one hand. The battery of this model is one of Samsung's Lithium ION like most of its single seater electric vehicles, it can store enough energy to be able to travel 17 km in a row.

It takes 2 hours to fully charge the Evercross battery. This all terrain hoverboard features notched tires and a raised deck. Once positioned on the Evercross, we feel a bit of the same sensation as when we drive a 4x4 instead of a sedan: the field of vision is widened and the sensations on the road are much more fluid.

There is no particular damping system for this cross hoverboard but given the height, the vibrations only return very little to the deck. You will always be adding to your hoverboard a hoverkart with suspensions to better dampen vibrations from the road.

To finish in the Evercross, a super useful option, with this 4x4 hoverboard, as soon as you brake, even if it is very light, the battery recharges a little. By optimizing your driving on a 17 km trip (advertised maximum range), it is possible to go up to 19 km in real life if you brake often enough.

PROS:

Powerful hoverboard: 2x 350W brushless motors

Maximum speed: 20 km / h

Wide notched tires

Good value for money

Various colors available

Quality bluetooth speakers

BEST 6.5-INCH ALL-TERRAIN HOVERBOARDS

1. 6.5-inch off-road hoverboard: the bumper

Ideal for beginners to practice, the Bumper is designed for compact terrain due to its 6.5-inch notched wheels, it can well be used as a hoverboard for children (7 to 12 years old), but also for older teenagers.

Delivered with a carry bag and a remote control, it will be the perfect companion for children and teenagers who want to be able to use their hoverboard on the road, but also on grass, sand or dirt surfaces.

The Bumper is a high-end off-road hoverboard. It has a Samsung battery and is IP54 certified, which means that it is waterproof even in light rain and that it withstands spills very well.

It has powerful features, despite its small size. Indeed, its double 350W motor allows you to go at a maximum speed of 20 km / h, all for a range of 20 km (the best on the market).

It is possible to select one of the 2 driving modes available via the remote control: beginner or expert. By choosing the first one, then we restrict the motor so that the maximum speed cannot exceed 13 km / h, which makes it possible to guarantee maximum safety for a small child, or to learn to hoverboard, even for an adult.

The bluetooth connection allows you to play music directly through the built-in stereo speakers, all through a smartphone app (Android and iOS). Alloy wheels, premium rubber grips and fenders - this budget model is a must have.

PROS:

Powerful 1000W peak hoverboard

Easy to transport

Grippy foot platform

Good value for money

Multitude of options

AGAINST:

Poor quality LEDs

2. Cheap 6.5 inch cross hoverboard: the Colorway

The Colorway is an ultra-bright 6.5-inch off-road hoverboard model thanks to the presence of LEDs both in the center of the wheels and on each of the front and rear sides. This modern model offers an excellent vehicle at an unbeatable price.

Inspired by two of the most popular hoverboard crossovers, namely the Hummer and the Bumper, the Colorway is equipped with 6.5-inch wheels (the smallest on the market) but has a design reminiscent of the Hummer and, in particular, for its robustness even. if it has a more marked futuristic look. In particular, we note that the fenders are curved to gain ergonomics, compared to the more square-shaped fenders for the Hummer.

In addition to this detail, the Colorway is an all-terrain hoverboard made for those who want to acquire a colorful vehicle. In addition to the front and rear LEDs that are usually present in this type of machine, this off-road hoverboard has two other types of LEDs, a very fashionable option at the moment.

In fact, there are LEDs in the center of the wheels, allowing them to remain visible at night, but it also further accentuates the futuristic effect of this hoverboard, but also LEDs on the fenders directly. If this has an advantage, that of remaining visible to all eyes, however it will be necessary to be careful when sliding the sidewalks not to scratch these LEDs too much, since the height of the wheel is low, this can happen.

In terms of characteristics, we remain in the standard for this type of hoverboard cross, that is, a maximum speed of 15 km / h (less than the Hummer) and a range of 14 km for a person weighing 70 kg, which still good. Features, especially for this kind of price. In fact, even if the features are good but not the best in the field, the price is quite generous, at no less than $ 100 less than some of the best off-road hoverboards, so we can understand their success on the internet. This model is available in different colors including pink, white and black.

PROS:

Powerful hoverboard

The price

Grippy foot platform

Ubiquitous LEDs

Futuristic look

Bluetooth speakers

1 year warranty

AGAINST:

Battery life that could be better

3. 6.5-inch 4x4 Hoverboard: The Markboard

As with the Colorway, the Markboard has a very futuristic look, particularly appealing to youngsters. Its particularity is to be almost illuminated from everywhere. At the level of characteristics we have what on the other hand to be a little disappointed, although for this type of price you can only appreciate the effort made by the brand.

The Markboard continues to assert its position as the market leader in electric vehicles thanks to its low-cost flagship model. Inspired by the Hummer but with smaller wheels that make it more compact and therefore easier to transport, this crossover hoverboard has notched rims that make it reasonably possible to ride for any type of surface.

Unlike the Colorway available in quite classic colors, the Markboard brand has fully played the futuristic look card and that suits it quite well and preferred to bet on square-shaped fenders rather than rounded ones. We were able to test the purple version, which with the corresponding LEDs looks great on it.

In terms of driving, though, we regret a certain pairing that gives the Hummer so much credit. Although this off-road version holds up, it barely reaches 13 km / h, or 6-7 km / h less than the iconic model.

On the other hand, for this small price, we will appreciate the presence of bluetooth speakers, but also a good quality autonomy, although the brand of the battery is unknown.

PROS:

Very nice look

Good autonomy

Ubiquitous LEDs

Good value for money

Bluetooth speakers

CONS:

Gripp not very good

Lack of torque

BEST 10 INCH ALL TERRAIN HOVERBOARDS

1. An SUV with LEDs: the 4x4 Carbon

Weebot started releasing its own hoverboard cross models last year. In particular, I saw this Weebot 4x4 which I found very compact. Originally advertised for off-road use, we'd rather say that the Carbon 4x4 is ideal for larger cities or suburbs, as it certainly allows most terrain to be passed, but you will have a hard time getting into sand or long slopes.

The 4x4 Carbon hoverboard is ideal to start practicing on a single-seater electric vehicle despite its 10-inch wheels thanks to its really effective ease of use for neophytes: the application is very educational, the hoverboard's cross-sensors are very responsive, making it easy to use. That allows for a fairly flexible trip.

Although the platform for the feet is not the most comfortable that exists, at least the small size offered by this electric skateboard allows the rider to handle it without difficulty from the beginning. The biggest advantage of this model is its price.

It is made for those who are new to the world of electric vehicles, for those who are looking for performance and various options, you can go your way, this cross hoverboard does not have bluetooth or stereo speakers for example.

PROS:

Easy to use

Compact hoverboard

Good value for money

Clean design

CONS:

Low power

The grip of the feet wears out over time.

36V battery

2. Inexpensive 10-inch off-road hoverboard: the XE

The 4X4 XE is quite close to the Nano. However, there are a few differences, either in terms of looks or features, but for a hoverboard this close, we were a bit surprised to see it so expensive. Even if a price difference is justified by the details that we will develop later, the Nano is still a better value for money in our opinion.

The 4X4 XE is a 10-inch all-terrain hoverboard. As for its counterparts of the same size, the comfort provided by the taller wheels should not be neglected: we gain in lightness and visibility, although the reactivity of the engines can sometimes seem somewhat longer in the long run.

The XE, despite its larger wheels, sells at a more attractive price than the Hummer, which can be a good investment, it all depends on what you're looking for. In fact, in this type of 10 inch 4X4 type hoverboard, the foot platform is shorter and narrower. This makes it possible to gain ergonomics and dynamism in the city, but has the disadvantage of being less comfortable and having a lower quality grip for the feet than in an 8.5-inch off-road hoverboard like the Hummer for example.

This XE actually packs excellent torque with its dual 350W motors each. Every climb and obstacle on the road can be overcome without worry. Lighter than the Hummer, on the other hand, we find a little less autonomy also with about 4 km less in real life. At the maximum speed level, on the other hand, we can reach 15 km without forcing using the 2nd driving mode.

Please note that in this type of 10 inch crossover hoverboard the vehicle does not have bluetooth speakers. It is a constant that we find in this type of hoverboard. Before finishing, another detail regarding the Nano and that does not justify such a price difference are the fenders. In fact, if the foot grips are quite similar, the fenders of the XE are shorter and allow you to never interfere with the shins when turning, or even not get caught in any obstacle that can rub. A considerable advantage for driving, but that does not explain this price difference.

PROS:

10 inch wheels

Bluetooth

Short fenders

Good value for money

2 driving modes

2 years warranty

Elegant design

CONS:

A little expensive

Maximum speed 15 km / h

3. 10-inch off-road hoverboard: the Nano

The Nano is a 10-inch cross hoverboard that therefore allows you to gain comfort on the road but also have a clearer view. Very recent and with an elegant futuristic design, this hoverboard allows you to walk through the forest or on rough roads without any problem. As the wheels on this off-road hoverboard are larger than most other models, the Nano is best suited for youth and adults ages 14 and up.

Contrary to appearances, despite its large 10-inch wheels, the Nano is no more expensive than a Hummer, on the contrary. Available in different colors such as black-red, blue and red, this model is especially practical for outings on rough terrain. If its large wheels allow it to pass most obstacles and reach a high speed faster thanks to the 700W motor, on the other hand its tires have no notches, which will not allow it to be used in sand for example.

To use this model, you need to connect the supplied remote control via bluetooth and then select one of the two driving modes available on it. By selecting the Beginner mode we limit the power of the engines to a maximum speed of about 12 km / h and by selecting the Expert mode we release all the power of the latter to reach the maximum speed of 18 km / h.

Other features of this hoverboard compared to the more compact models are its short fenders and premium grips. If the fenders are shorter and especially lower than on Hummers, this is understandable given the size of the 10-inch wheels, raising them would have a more negative impact on handling than improving the vehicle's endurance. Another difference is the flu for the feet. If most of the time the flu is certainly of good quality but very short, here it is about tall and elongated fluids, respecting the rounded shapes to cover the entire plateau of the feet.

This type of gripp is not necessarily better than another but on the other hand it allows to have a better grip when tilting the off-road hoverboard either forward or backward, which will be more the case. Than with an 8.5-inch hoverboard where the incline is less. Having to tilt the hoverboard more or less also improves acceleration and braking precision.

PROS:

10 inch wheels

Bluetooth

Good value for money

2 driving modes

2 years warranty

Futuristic design

CONS:

Weight (14 kg)

No speakers
